Vehicle upgrades and progression
Success across every mode feeds into one progression system. Races pay money based on your finishing time, and Time Travel star ratings let you buy new cars and supercars. Upgrades to acceleration, top speed, brake power, tire traction and steering help you keep up as the tracks get harder. In addition, drift points and flight points from ramps turn into bonus cash during your runs.
Tips and strategy
- Straighten out before hitting ramps: Launching off stunt ramps with turning momentum causes mid-air spins that lead to crashes upon landing. Keep your steering centered when approaching jump lips.
- Maintain distance during police chases: In Hot Pursuit, every collision with a police car lowers your HP, and more police cars join over time. Keep your distance and use side streets to avoid getting boxed in.
- Search the city for hidden gems: Roaming the free mode map helps you find the 143 hidden gems that unlock bonus cars.
Game modes
Career mode
Career mode groups its events by type, and the game lists 12 tracks for each. In Race events you compete against 5 artificial intelligence drivers and must finish in the top 3 to unlock the next track. Time Travel tasks you with beating the clock to earn star ratings, Stunt mode demands precise driving to the finish across stunt-filled tracks, and Check Point mode asks you to reach the finish by getting past obstacles.
Free ride mode
Free mode lets you navigate a big city filled with large buildings, wide streets, stunt areas and hidden spots. A Reward table opens every 180 seconds, granting money based on your drift and flight points. Drivers can also hunt for the 143 gems hidden around the city to unlock new cars.
Hot pursuit
Hot Pursuit tests your survival driving against police units. Your car's HP drops whenever you collide with the cops, and the number of police cars grows as time passes. When your HP runs out the game ends and you collect your rewards.
Crash derby
Crash Derby places 6 drivers into a dedicated battle arena. Each car has 100 HP, and destroying a rival restores 20 HP to you. A contact timer pushes you to keep attacking, and finishing in the top 3 earns a ranking reward.
Fly mode and 2 Player
Fly mode (Fly Parkour) challenges you to reach huge speeds and stay off the road as long as you can. The 2 Player option splits the screen so two friends can race each other on the same computer.
