What is 2 Minute Football?

2 Minute Football is a quick quarterback game from igamebank llc where every match is a two-minute drill. The clock starts at 2:00, you take the snap, and you have to throw to a running receiver and then carry the ball toward the end zone. You need three touchdowns to win a game and move on in your season. It is a Unity WebGL game, so it runs in a browser tab on a laptop, phone, or school Chromebook with nothing to install.

Before each game you get a scouting report on the other defense. After each game you get a stat sheet with your touchdowns, first downs, pass streak, pass yards, run yards, and Hail Marys, plus a QB rating.

Key features

  • Two-minute clock: Every match starts at 2:00. Running out of bounds stops the clock, so you can fit in more plays.
  • Tap-to-throw passing: You throw by tapping or clicking near a receiver while he runs his route.
  • Steer and spin: After the catch you steer with a swipe or the arrow keys, and you get one spin move per play.
  • Scouting report: Each opponent shows its defense type (man-to-man or zone), how aggressive it is, its defensive speed, and whether it blitzes or brings a pass rush.
  • Seasons: You start as a Rookie in the Freshman Season and move up to the Starter Season once you finish it.
  • Locker and helmets: Spend QB Coins in your locker on helmets, including the JoMites Limited Edition sets.
  • Quests: Short goals such as "Score 4 touchdowns in one game" or "Win two games in a row during this session."

How to play 2 Minute Football

  1. Press Let's Play, then use Pick Team to choose the team you want to quarterback.
  2. Read the Scouting Report so you know if the defense plays man-to-man or zone and whether it blitzes.
  3. Choose one of the three plays on the play screen. The game waits with "Select a play to begin!"
  4. After the snap ("Hike!"), tap or click near a receiver to throw him the ball.
  5. Once he catches it, run toward the end zone. Steer with a swipe or the Left and Right arrow keys.
  6. Double-tap or press Space to spin past a tackler. You only get one spin per play.
  7. Score three touchdowns before the clock hits 0:00 to win and move on to the next team.

Downs, clock and scoring in 2 Minute Football

The game keeps the basic football rules but squeezes them into two minutes. All of these numbers come straight from the game's own text.

Plays can end badly as well as well. The game has calls for "Sacked!", "Batted down!", "Incomplete", "Out of bounds", and a turnover on downs if you fail to reach the yellow line in four plays. Long throws can count as Hail Marys, which get their own line on the stat sheet.

Tips and strategy

  • Use the scouting report: When a team is marked as a blitzing team, get the ball out early before the pass rush reaches you for a sack.
  • Throw to the runner, not the spot: Throws are aimed by tapping near a moving player, so tap just ahead of the receiver you want.
  • Save your spin: You only get one spin per play, so wait until a tackler is right in front of you.
  • Get out of bounds late: With little time left, run out of bounds to stop the clock and get one more play.
  • Watch the yellow line: Starting at 1st and 20 is a long way. Short, safe catches that move you past the line keep the drive alive.
  • Do the quests: Goals like winning four games in a row give you a reason to replay teams and push your total score up.

Game modes

Season

The main mode is a season. The season screen in this version lists eight opponents for the Freshman Season: Whales, Dinosaurs, Lemurs, Pandas, Apes, Cobras, Tigers, and Raptors. You must score three touchdowns to advance. If you fall short, you can restart the season or watch an ad to continue. Finishing your Rookie season moves you up to the Starter Season, and the full season goal is to play all 32 teams for the highest total score.

How to Play tutorial

A short tutorial walks you through the basics: tap by a player to throw, run toward the end zone after the catch, steer with a swipe or the keyboard, and spin with a double-tap or Space.

Versions and similar games

A second version, 2 Minute Football Classic, uses a newer Unity version and adds a few extras. It has an Auto Mode that "automatically runs and spins at the optimal time" and a Pro Mode that turns auto-spin off and gives you a run and scramble overlay. You can also rewind and replay a down after a bad play, and a weekly high score board shows your rank. Its season runs from the regular season through the WildCard, Divisional, and Conference playoffs up to the World Championship. Along the way you climb from Rookie to Starter, Franchise QB, MVP, and finally GOAT.
