What is Retro Bowl College?
Retro Bowl College is the college football edition of Retro Bowl, made by New Star Games. You take the job of head coach at a college program. On game day you run the offense yourself — the same drag-to-pass, tap-to-hand-off football as the original — and between games you run the program from the Athletics Office: facilities, coordinators, recruiting and your players' lives on campus.
The difference from Retro Bowl is that your players are students. They arrive as Freshmen, play for up to four seasons, and leave when they graduate or get picked in the Pro Draft. They have a GPA as well as star ratings, and the bye-week and locker-room events are about exams, dorm parties and the Dean's office rather than contracts. The game itself suggests starting at a low-ranked school and earning job offers from bigger programs.

How to Play Retro Bowl College
Controls (browser): click and drag in the opposite direction of the running receiver to aim, then release to throw. At the snap, click the blue circle to hand off to your running back. While running, swipe up or down to side-step and swipe forward to dive. To run with the quarterback, start a throw backwards. Kicks are two clicks: one to set power, one to set direction.
- 1Meet your team: You manage up to 10 key players (12 if you change it in the options). The rest of the squad is hidden and plays at the level of your offensive and defensive coordinators.
- 2Set the training regime: HARD training gives more XP each week but costs energy, morale and GPA and raises injury risk. LIGHT keeps players fresh and leaves time to study, but they improve more slowly.
- 3Play the season: Win your Division or Conference to reach the postseason and Bowl games. Some conferences do not play postseason games at all — to compete in them you need a coaching job in another conference.
- 4Handle life on campus: Bye weeks and random events ask you to choose: study time, media interviews, fundraisers for next year’s scholarships, or work with your coaches. Meetings cost Coaching Credits but fix morale and grades.
- 5Pro Draft and Admissions: After the season your Seniors and Juniors may declare for the Pro Draft. Drafted players donate to the Scholarship Fund, which you then spend in College Admissions on the next Freshman class.
Retro Bowl College Tips: Recruiting, GPA and the Scholarship Fund
- ●Keep players until they graduate: A player kept on the roster until he graduates as a Senior earns the Scholarship Fund more than one whose scholarship you revoke early. Cutting during Admissions gives some money back; cutting mid-season gives nothing.
- ●Spend your scouts carefully: You can only reveal the potential of a limited number of Freshmen per Admissions round, and rival colleges sign prospects as you go. Scout the positions you actually need first.
- ●Upgrade the stadium for a bigger fund: The Scholarship Fund has a cap. Upgrading the stadium raises it, so you keep more of the donations when your players are drafted. Training facilities speed up XP; rehab helps players recover from injury.
- ●Watch GPA late in the season: GPA falls while players train. Bench a struggling student, give him study time, or hold a meeting before he is suspended — the requirements get stricter for Juniors and Seniors.
- ●Think about early declarations: A Junior who declares early for the Pro Draft brings double the donation, but you lose him a year early. If you don’t encourage him, he returns for his Senior season.
- ●Deal with toxic morale fast: A player with toxic morale drags the whole locker room down. Fix it in a meeting, or cut him — but then you lose his play and his graduation donation, and can’t replace a key player until next season.

How does recruiting work in Retro Bowl College?
At the start of each season College Admissions opens and you spend the Scholarship Fund to recruit Freshmen to replace key players who left. You have to scout a prospect from his profile page to reveal his potential, and the number of scouts per admissions round is limited. Other colleges make offers to the same candidates, so the pool shrinks with every signing.
How do I get more money in the Scholarship Fund?
The fund is refilled by donations when your Junior and Senior players are picked in the Pro Draft, by annual alumni endowments at the start of each season, and by some events between games (such as bye-week fundraisers). Juniors who declare for the draft early bring double the donation. The fund has an upper limit, which you raise by upgrading the stadium in the Athletics Office.
Why was my player suspended?
Players with a low GPA are placed on Academic Suspension and miss games while they study. GPA drops during the season while players focus on football. You can raise it by benching a player, by spending Coaching Credits in a player meeting, by choosing study time in bye-week events, or by switching the training regime to LIGHT. Requirements get stricter for Juniors and Seniors.
